Movember Has Raised Awareness but More Action Needed: Cyprus Survey.
Over the last 20 years, November has been designated as the month for men to draw their attention to their health, visibly demonstrated by growing a moustache. Widely known as Movember, the scope of this trend has been to raise awareness about men’s health issues.
It’s interesting to see how this movement affects the male population of Cyprus: are they more conscious about issues directly affecting their health and are they actually taking preventive measures?
A survey about Movember, conducted in 2022 by Pulse Market Research in co-operation with MOVEMBER CYPRUS amongst men in Cyprus, has shown that awareness does not always lead to action.
• While 8 out of 10 of the men surveyed knew about the movement:
• Only 7% said they visit their general practitioner regularly, and
• 79% have never been tested for prostate cancer
These statistics indicate that awareness alone does not guarantee action and that there is still a lot of progress required to awaken concern and cultivate health-consciousness amongst the male population of Cyprus.
